Get Started!

Interested in trying LARP? Looking to attend a Relics of Aelamos event?
Here is an easy guide to follow to get set up:

1) Read the Core Rulebook

This document has everything you will need to know about the basics of LARP, creating a character, and the rules of how to play RoA. You’re not required to memorise everything in this book, but this will help you get familiar with the system and answer most questions.

Rulebooks can be found at https://www.relicsofaelamos.ca/pages/rulebooks
Core Rulebook: Here

2) Create a Character

After reading through the rulebook, you should have a general idea of what skills you would like your character to have.

You first start by picking out a name and a race for your character: there are 8 available races to choose from.
Each race has different costuming requirements called Racials. These will visibly distinguish your character as that race.
Each race also has special advantages called Racial Skills. Some are set abilities and others give you a choice of skills from the core rulebook that you get for free. Do not include these when spending your GP.

GP stands for “Growth Points” and is Relics’ experience system.
Every player gets 20 to start, and you will earn 5 GP every game you play (with some opportunities to earn more!)

With your initial GP you select different skills you would like your character to have.

If you’re buying a skill for the first time, you subtract the number in the 1st column from your GP total. Multiple purchases of skills can unlock more uses or special abilities, but you must purchase the 1st  to start, and then purchase the 2nd, etc.
This then allows your character to use that skill while you’re playing the game.

You don’t have to spend all 20 GP, but it’s best to get as many skills that you would like for your first game.

All of this information must then be submitted via email to Logistics >> HERE!

3) Create a Backstory

While at LARP, you will be playing a fictional character that you create. You will act as this character the entire time and live out their life in the fictional world.
It is recommended that you have some basis of a backstory for the character you play.. Where are they from? What are their interests? Backstories will help you determine all that drives your character. The options are almost limitless!

Backstories should also be submitted via email to Logistics >> HERE!

If you’d like more information about the fictional world of Aelamos and different places your player can originate from, you can find that info here >> Lore History

4) Purchase a Ticket

After you receive a confirmation email from submitting your Character Registration Form and Character Backstory Form, you can purchase your ticket by e-transferring the event fee to relicsofaelamos@gmail.com

It is also possible to pay in cash when you arrive at an event as well, but you will incur a $5 fee if you do not notify Logistics ahead of time.

4) Pre-Log

Logistics is the section of the RoA staff that handles all the paperwork. They are who you will contact to make any changes to your character, including purchasing skills, prior to an event.

All players are highly encouraged to send an email to the Logistics staff with your name, character name, and that you will be attending the upcoming event. This is referred to as Pre-log. This ensures that the staff can set everything up for your attendance.

Logistics also commonly refers to registration prior to the start time at the actual event. This will be a table set up outside NPC camp where you sign in, pick up your character sheet, and pay for the event if you haven’t purchased a ticket. Your character sheet will have all the skills and necessary details for your character and you must keep it on your person at all times during the event.

You can send your prelog emails HERE!

5) Have Fun!!!

You’re now ready to enjoy your first game at Relics of Aelamos LARP!
Stick to the rules, use your skills, and interact with others to make the most of your experience.
