The Humans of Brimholm

Life Span: 60-80 years
Minimum Costuming Racials: None

The Humans of Brimholm are adaptable and hardy. An honest sort of determination and a willingness to learn lend well to fitting in anywhere.

“Routed, waylaid, slayed. A tragedy in ten years. But we did not cease.”

-Anonymous

Society:
The Brimholm settled in the largest and most fertile area, and quickly became the largest Race on Mirokath. Promising that through their prosperity everyone else would prosper as well. Thus, the Humans of Brimholm, and later their Kingdom of Ganghae, was to settle in the central countryside and become the jewel of Mirokath. The size of Brimholm and the sparseness of their population lead to a very large number of them being killed at the hands of the Amur at the start of the War for Supremacy. Their population has not quite come back from that, and while still plentiful, they are nowhere as plentiful as they were before.

Culture:
The Brimholm Humans lived, and in some cases do still live, a very simple lifestyle. They farm the land where they can with small gardens hidden all throughout their small communities. Their transition from sprawling farmlands dotting the Lumerian landscape to living in constant fear of raids was not a smooth or easy one. While their race’s fall during the War for Supremacy was not the first, nor was it the last, there are very good cases made for it being the hardest. With the estimated losses of Brimholm lives being close to approximately 60% of the population over the first 10 years. Some fled into the only remaining cities on the continent, while the others scattered and integrated into other societies. This has led to an almost full erasure of any sort of unified culture for the Brimholm Humans. There are bits and pieces that still remain, such as their skills at agriculture and a love of fried bread, but aside from things like that there is not much. Any sort of traditions or history was lost with the sacking and killing of most of them so any sort of new traditions are very much dependent on the circumstances of someone’s life.

One tradition that originated with the Brimholm Humans, but has caught on everywhere, is the Naming Ceremony. It is where one adopts a new name upon making a new home, in hopes that the change of identity will bring them renewed and new life. Once per month, those new to a community will gather, and choose new names. They introduce themselves to those established in the community, and establish the person they want to be through an introduction or a demonstration.

Religion:
The Brimholm Humans tend to hold their creator Aria in very high regard, and worship of her in some form is very common in Brimholm settlements. Other favourites are Synne and Penoriel who boast a large following from Brimholm Humans as well. Worship of Soldas and Verona have blossomed in the newer generations, worshipping them as symbols of overcoming strife. Vumella is worshipped very commonly among those who cast magic. Worship of Terona and Mythnera are not unheard of, just not as common as the others.
